Renowned for outstanding academic results, exceptional pastoral care, and a strong sense of community, Durham High has cemented its position as one of the leading schools in the country.

Headmistress Michelle Hill expressed her pride:

“We’re overjoyed to receive this accolade. While we’re proud of our academic results, we take even greater pride in nurturing and developing our girls to be ambitious, caring, confident, and resilient young women. Durham High isn’t just a school—it’s a legacy, and this award reflects the dedication of our staff, parents, and girls.”

With a history spanning over 140 years, Durham High continues to excel:

  • Academic Excellence: This year, 1 in 5 A Level grades were A*, and almost half of all GCSEs were graded 8-9.
  • Community Spirit: Initiatives like the Rotary Interact programme inspire students of all ages to give back, raising funds for various charities.

In its latest Independent Schools Inspectorate (ISI) report, Durham High was rated ‘Excellent’ and praised for fostering a supportive and positive environment where students flourish.

We are immensely proud of this recognition and look forward to continuing our legacy of empowering girls to lead, achieve, and inspire.
